RV Inverters - Modified Sine Wave

Modified sine wave inverters produce a power wave that is not pure with somewhat of a square wave length that is running at less than 60 Hz. Modified sine wave inverters are less efficient at converting DC voltage to AC voltage and well as being less efficient at running an electrical appliance. What this means is a modified sine wave inverter will use more DC power to run an appliance than a sine wave inverter will.

This doesn't mean that modifide sine wave inverters are bad... their simply not the best choice for today's hi-tech RV's. A properly sized modified sine wave inverter will run the microwave and any other household appliance including LCD TV's, laptop computers and corded tools. Most rechargable tool battery packs don't like modified sine wave. Microwaves make more noise (buzz or hum) and take longer to cook than the same microwave running on pure sine wave power.
