The Sunsaver Duo is an excellent choice for Class A, B and C motorhomes or any application which requires charging two independent battery banks.

From the Manufacturer

Morningstar's SunSaver Duo is an advanced PWM two battery controller for RV's and boats. The SunSaver Duo will charge two seperate and isolated batteries at the same time, such as the coach and engine batteries, based on user selectable preferences.

The SunSaver Duo employs Morningstar's legendary SunSaver controller technology, whose long-term track record for high reliability and improved battery charging is well recognized in the solar industry. This controller also includes a backlit remote LCD meter which may be mouted in or on a wall, and displays digital and pictorial status information about the solar power system.

The SunSaver Duo is expoy encapsulated for environmental protection. It is user adjustable via DIP switches and has an optional remote temperature sensor that is included with this kit.

The optional  remote battery temperature sensor (RTS) will help to improve your solar systems charge efficiency if there is a 9
° F or greater differance between the SunSaver Duo charge controller and the battery bank. An example of this would be if the charge controller is installed inside the RV where the air temperature is regulated by heating or cooling and the battery bank is whatever the outside temperature is.

The remote temperature sensor has a 33' cable with 3/8" lug which will fit on all deep cycle batteries. Excess cable can be trimmed off without effecting performance of the RTS.

Notes from the Installation Team
We've installed several Morningstar SunSaver Duo's in either a Class A, B, or C motorhomes. If your solar system is not expected to grow past 25 amps this is an excellent controller for rigs with dual battery banks. The SunSaver Duo is realatively easy to install but it will take some time to run all the wires. The controller can be installed in a dry compartment out of sight then run the temp sensor, RM-1 cable and battery charge circuits to the controller.

Both of the charge circuit leads can be installed on a single battery or split to charge both battery banks. We generally set the SunSaver Duo to send 90% power to the coach or house batteries and 10% to the starting battery. If your RV is parked for the winter this is a fantasic feature as the starting battery also receives charge! A feature you don't get on solar systems designed for house batteries only.

The RM-1 remote requires a 3" round cut out for flush installation. A 3" hole-saw works quite well for this. Or the RM-1 remote can be installed with the included wall mounting box.

What you need to Aquire
2 automotive type ATC in line fuses to protect the wiring from the battery to the controller.
2 Fuses sized for the system
4 ring terminals for battery connections.
