New Generation 6 Zamp 40 Watt 2.24 Amp Folding Portable RV Solar System. This is the original Gen 6 folding portable solar system, not the single panel non-folding system.

The 40 watt portable battery charging system is rated at 2.3 amps per hour in direct sunshine. This system is great for maintaining batteries while in storage or for small campers with a single 12 volt battery and minimal power needs.

The New Gen 6 Zamp 40 watt portable solar system features a new waterproof easy to read digital charge controller that displays battery voltage, charge current and total amps charged as well as LED status lights. The Gen 6 also features a new flex-bracket leg support system and a high quality wire harness with SAE connectors. The Gen 6 is hands down the nicest portable solar system ever produced by Zamp Solar! We are very impressed with the new Gen 6 systems.

15 Foot Extension Cable - The extension cable will give you an addition 15 foot of cable allowing you to park in the shade and place the portable solar system in the sun. The combined length of both the portable cable and extension cable is about 30'.

Battery Disconnect Kit - The new Zamp ZS-RV-Roof/Sidewall 12 gauge battery quick disconnect kit makes it easy to plug directly into your deep cycle battery in just a few seconds. This kit is a 12" wire harness with ring terminals that connects directly to your battery and an SAE type connector that matches up with the solar panel. The new quick disconnect system allows you a few installation options.

Battery Disconnect Option 1
Drill a hole in the battery box and install the round black female port with attached screws. Connect the red wire from the female port to the positive (+) battery post.
Connect the black female port wire to the negative (-) battery post.

In some cases the pigtail of the ZS-RV-Port may not be long enough to reach a battery post. If this is the case simply cut the lead of the ZS-RV-Port lead that is too short and add more wire.

Battery Disconnect Option 2
Use this option if you don't want to drill a hole in the battery box. Cut the black male connector off of the cable leaving 10" or more of wire. Save the connector for future use.

Route the battery connection pigtail under the battery box lid. Connect the red positive wire of the pigtail to the batteries positive (+) post. Connect the black wire to the batteries negative (-) post with the included ring terminals. Mount the SAE plug to the battery box or simply let it dangle in a convenient location.

Battery Disconnect Option 3
Drill a hole in the side of the RV just large enough for the roof sidewall port. Apply a bead of silicone around the back side of the port and fasten to the RV with screws. Route the battery connection pigtail to the battery compartment. You may have to lengthen the wires with butt connectors. Connect the red positive wire of the pigtail to the batteries positive (+) post. Connect the black wire to the batteries negative (-) post.

Notes from the Installation Team
Up Date 9/18/13:
We have recently received our first shipment of the Gen 6 Zamp portable solar systems. Since introduction these systems have evolved to a point of perfection with the Gen 6 models. With a new and improved digital waterproof controller, flex-bracket leg system and new wire harness the Zamp portables are the best portable solar system on the market!

The 40 watt kit is basically a trickle charging system. At 2.24 amps it won't do much for you if you're pulling 50 amps a day from your batteries, but it is better than not having any solar at all. This system is great for small campers or tent trailers that have low electrical demands or for battery maintenance while in storage. We recommend securing the system to the ground with tent stakes or a dog/awing tie out stake and bungee cords.

If you're a weekend warrior connect the 40 watt portable to your battery when you get home and you'll be full charge when ready for the next outing.

Security can be an issue with portable systems. Pick up a small 15' or 20' chain or cable and a couple of padlocks to secure the system to the camper, boat or vehcile while your away from camp.
